Hi there - My name is Isaiah ‘Iz’ Young.

Myself, my fiancé, our two German Shepherds (Maui and Maya) and their first litter of puppies.

A passionate osteopath who prides himself on attention to detail.

My name is Isaiah Young.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Victoria, I grew up extremely active playing high level representative basketball for the Knox Raiders and Nunawading Spectres. However, as is common for many young athletes, the toll of a large amount of sport came with some injuries and this was how I first found osteopathy, as I was treated by multiple while growing up.

I realised at the time that the idea of being an osteopath would allow me to continue to work with high level athletes, however over my years of study and maturity I realised that those in need of high-level physical therapy were likely people who weren’t elite athletes at all and were instead the general population. Hence my desire to bring high performance physical therapy to all of my patients, regardless of athletic prowess.

10+ years of applicable strength training knowledge.

Since graduating from Victoria University in 2019 after my 5-year course including Masters, I moved to Brisbane, Queensland with dreams of forging a new environment for myself to create a change in osteopathy and healthcare alike.

I combine a wholistic, biopsychosocial model into my osteopathic treatment which aims to not only work out the reason for the injury/pain in patients, but also the factors that may have predisposed them and may be prolonging their discomfort. I then utilise a combination of active/passive movements, orthopaedic testing, strength testing, soft tissue mobilisation (eg. massage, pressure points, myofascial release) and HVLA manipulations (aka: ‘cracking’) to demonstrate improvements in movement range and/or quality and thus encourage a return to physical activity and strengthening for long term benefits.

That last sentence is key - any health practitioner who claims that simply massage or manipulation of joints is enough to sustain change is lying. They are excellent tools to create increased movement, but strength and conditioning with realistic and meaningful goals are the best ways to create sustained change.
